GERARD PUVIS - Wine Art & Gastronomy
Each of us has tried to peel off the foil from a large wine bottle, to model the metal between our fingers, to feel it's texture. In the best of cases, the emblem stays visible and the rest of the foil rolls into a hard, compact mass.
Then Puvis came onto the scene. He, too, gave in to the temptation to prolong the pleasure of the palate by unfurling the famous foil necks. His fingers, much more robust than ours caressed the material; the collar came alive, the metal surrendered to his touch and gave way to reveal before our flabbergasted eyes, the most intoxicating of masquerades.
Thus was born a comedy of the vine; all dressed in lead. Sculptured in the throws of the jubilation which follow the last sip of wine. These jolly fellows, in the colors of grands crus represent for lovers of wine what lead soldiers do for aficionados of warfare. Lucky figures for wine lovers in love with the fine arts, they have conquered the enchanted universe of collectors.
Gerard Puvis was born in Lyon, France in 1950. He studied in Paris and Madrid and is now internationally recognized as one of France's great contemporary artists. His works have been shown in exhibitions around the world, including Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, and Japan. At home his art is recognized in many displays and exhibits, including Château Bordeaux at the Georges Pompidou Center, and a permanent display at Galerie Blondel in Paris.

JACK GALANTE - The Handcrafted Wines of Carmel
The Galante Family has a long history in the Monterey area. Owner Jack Galante's great grandfather, J.F. Devendorf, was the founder of the town of Carmel. He later built the Pine Inn and the prestigious Highlands Inn. In 1969, Jack's parents purchased a 700-acre cattle ranch in rustic Carmel Valley. While still maintaining a working cattle ranch, the Galantes, in 1983, began growing premium grapes on their property. In 1994, Jack Galante decided to build a winery and use some of his grapes to produce ultra-premium estate bottled wines. Today Galante is recognized as one of the premier Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Monterey County, and all of California.
The "Blackjack Pasture" is Galante's signature wine and the most powerful and exclusive Cabernet from a tiny 2.4 acre parcel that produces very small yields and intensely colored small berried grapes. The fruit sees new French and American oak. Big, ripe blackberry flavors, with lush chocolate notes.
